AWE recently completed the design, manufacture and testing of a customised spill containment penstock valve for a plant in Victoria.
Constructed completely in grade 316 stainless steel, the penstock is operated with a pneumatic cylinder actuator and has the capability to close in under five seconds.
The penstock valve was factory tested and verified to be drop tight in sealing performance as per the customer’s requirement.
Once installed on site it will be automated into the plant’s overall SCADA system and be alarm activated in the event of a spill protecting the surrounding environment.
