Did you know AWE designs and manufacturers Telescopic Valves?

A telescopic hydrostatic valve is a specialised custom-made device, often used in water and wastewater treatment, to control and regulate fluid levels in basins, tanks, and other holding areas. They are also extensively used to draw off and collect settled sludge from clarifier tanks.

Key Features and Function:

  • Telescoping Riser Pipe Sleeve:

The valve’s main feature is a vertical pipe sleeve that can be extended or retracted to adjust the inlet/outlet point.

  • Adjustable Flow Rate:

By raising or lowering the riser pipe, the operator can control the flow rate of water into or out of the holding area.

  • Precise Level Control:

The adjustable nature of the valve allows for fine-tuning of water levels in tanks, basins, and other containment systems.

  • Sediment Control:

Some telescopic valves are specifically designed to siphon clean water without disturbing sediment, which is important in certain applications.

  • Sludge Draw Off

Telescopic valves can be used to draw off and remove sludge from settling tanks such as clarifiers. The valve is lowered and the hydrostatic pressure forces the sludge up and out through the valve for collection and further processing.

  • Material Options:

They can be made from various materials like stainless steel, uPVC, depending on the specific application, the fluids being handled and customer requirements.

  • Applications:

Common uses include water treatment plants, wastewater treatment, and applications where precise water level control is needed.

How They Work:

Adjustable Riser Sleeve:

The valve features a telescopic riser pipe that can be moved vertically.

Sealed Connections:

The telescopic movement is sealed at the outer and inner sleeves to prevent leaks and ensure proper flow control.

Flow Regulation:

By raising or lowering the riser sleeve, the operator controls the opening or closing of the flow path, thus regulating the water level.

 Level Control:

The valve maintains the desired water level in the holding area by automatically adjusting the flow rate.

Actuation:

The riser sleeve is actuator by manual handwheel or automated means such as an electric actuator driving a lead screw and thrust nut mechanism.

In essence, telescopic hydrostatic valves provide a reliable and precise way to manage water levels and flows in various industrial and water management applications.
