AWE have been a long-time approved supplier of Penstocks to Western Australian Water Corporation projects in compliance with their Strategic Product Specification SPS 295 Penstocks for Waterworks Purposes.
Some of the unique and stringent requirements of this specification include the following:
- Seals must be attached to the gate, not the frame.
- Seals must be able to be maintained and replaced from operating floor level without the need to enter the channel or chamber.
- All penstocks must be functional and hydrostatic leak tested in the factory to demonstrate compliance with the specified allowable leakage rate.
- Welding, non-destructive examination (NDE) and passivation testing must be carried out in accordance and comply with Water Corporation’s Welding Specification WS-1 Metal Arc Welding.
